The things you learn....

So lately I have been thinking about how different my life is than I thought it would be 16 months ago. I never knew I had this strength in me, and I am actually glad that I know what I can handle and get through. My friend brought Maggie over her sons walker that she doesn't use anymore and it is the perfect size for Mags! We like to sit her in it and she uses her head to turn on the lights and music. Sometimes her hands but her head works out better for her, its bigger and is sure to hit one of the buttons! She has been holding her head up a lot lately, and is getting so close to being able to roll over tummy to back. She can roll over back to tummy like a crazy girl, but she hates being on her tummy so we play a game with exercises where she gets to her tummy, gets angry and I help her roll to her back. We do this over and over again. It very helpful in getting her to put at least a little bit of pressure on her legs, we are trying to teach her that her feet are actually useful for something other than just chewing on. We went to the doctors on Friday because she was still sick, and she is fine but we are changing her medicines because the one she is on just has too many side effects that I don't like. So we will be tapering off that and adding a new one. Please pray that this medicine works out as I hate having to do this every few months. I just want to find a medicine or medicines that actually stop the seizures and let her gain some weight. We have her GI appointment Wednesday where we will find out if she is for sure getting a G-tube. It should be interesting to say the least. I am a lot more ok with it now. I was thinking about it and anything that is going to put more weight on her and make her stronger is ok with me! I just won't be looking forward to the actual surgery, those are never fun. I have absolutely no patience so I can't wait until we find out what is going to happen with that. It would be nice to know other things about what she will be able to do but because nobody knows, I will take what I can get. Everyday I wake up thinking about how blessed I am with my little crazy family and know I wouldn't change anything.

Update!

So as my friend started her own blog, I realized I hadn't posted on here in a few months. Maggie is still doing the same, progressing a little but not a lot (well a lot for her) and she hasn't gained any weight since September so we will be putting a feeding tube in this month at night to see if that will help her to gain weight. I was very scared at first but realized that it is whats best for you. I will stay strong and support my child no matter what they go through. I also realized in December how important my family is and how very blessed I am. Me and Chris have such a strong marriage and love each other through it all. Mags will have surgery to get the feeding tube inserted which is very scary for us, but I know God will be there the whole time and she will come through it strong as she always does! She knows her mommy and daddy are always there for her :) Chris has also has to get glasses as his eyesight is still pretty blurry from the accident and if it doesn't improve in a couple months he will need surgery but we are very hopeful that these glasses will be just what he needs! As hard as it gets sometimes (well a lot of the time, well all the time) I know there is a reason that we were chosen to be parents for Maggie and we are making the best of it. No matter what or who she becomes and any of the girls we will support them and love them the whole part of their journey. I am still amazed at how well Faith and Ana are with Maggie, they are gentle yet playful. It is just amazing to know how blessed we are to have this family. We also have our 3 year anniversary coming up in February which I am really excited about, I know there will be many more to come but anything to celebrate love is a good thing! I have realized that most people are out for themselves and not to help others, but I have also realized that I can always put that behind me so I can be a good friend to someone. As much as someone can hurt you, its only as much as you will let them. I have some wonderful friends and family and even though nobody understands what we are going through, I am thankful that everyone is in our lives whether they are a big part or a small part. I love you all and thanks for the support and love you have given us, it means more than you can imagine.
